Happy Girl

Hey everyone. Here's my take on Creative Embellishments' January challenge and Scrap Our Stash's January sketch and 3 challenge.  The photo is of my daughter fooling around with two of her horses. She is definitely at her happiest when she can spend time with them.  For Creative Embellishments' challenge, I was inspired by the colors and snow in the picture that can be found below. The twist was to use something circular so the sketch worked out perfectly!! I used some of CE's chipboard for the title. I used a couple of their hashtag words. I cut off the hashtags and stained the chipboard with distress stain. Once that was dry, I dabbed some white distress paint on the top of the letters and then sprinkled some distress glitter on them.

I also painted and sprinkled glitter on  the wood veneer snowflakes from Studio Calico.  The pattern paper and stickers used were from Simple Stories 'Snow Patrol'.

For the background I stamped snowflakes using white distress paint and Stampers Anonymous stamps. Before the paint was dry I sprinkled on some distress glitter as well. Very cool effect!!!   I also splattered some paint around the layout.

Scrap Our Stash changed up their sketch challenge a bit. Along with the sketch, there are three lists and you must use at least one item from each list. I used American Crafts, avocado, blue, chipboard and cardinal red. I really like these challenges. They really do help you use up your stash. Be sure to check out the challenge blogs. Thanks for stopping by.

Hello

Hey everyone. Here's my take on Stuck?!Sketches January 1st sketch challenge and Scrap Our Stash's January stash challenge.  For the stash challenge, the part of the book cover that inspired me was the black cat and his striped hat. You also had to use white paint or paint splatters. Using a styrofoam cup I stamped with white distress paint to create circles. I then sewed around the circles. I also made splatters with 2 different distress paints.

The pattern paper and diecuts used were from Dear Lizzy. The word hello and gold hearts were Thickers from American Crafts. The gold splatters were made using Heidi Swapp's color shine.

The flowers were made from stamps and dies from Heartfelt Creations. I used part of the Arianna Blooms collection. I embossed the stamped image with gold embossing powder and then colored it with distress ink. I then molded the flowers and used art glitter from The Art Institute for the centers. Love how they turned out!!! Heartfelt Creations has taken my flower making to a whole new level!!!

Below is the sketch. I rotated it 90 degrees to the right. Make sure to check out these challenge blogs. They are lots of fun and the design team designs are very inspiring. Thanks for stopping by.

Grateful

Hey everyone. Happy New Year!!!!  Here's a layout I created of my daughter and her boyfriend on their way home for Thanksgiving. It's for a sketch challenge on Karan Gerber's blog. This past fall I was able to take some classes from Karan. Oh what fun we had!!!!! Karan is a wonderful lady and great teacher. Can't wait for the next opportunity to take another class. For this layout I used pattern paper and stickers from Basic Grey's 'Mon Ami' collection. The wood veneer used came from Simple Stories 'I am' collection. Lots of little details in this creation!! For the background I first stamped with a wood grain stamp and then a styrofoam cup. I then added various colored splatters.

I curled up some thread and placed it behind some elements. The flowers were fussy cut from pattern paper. Below is the sketch. Thanks for stopping by!!
